There is a separate LED shown in the schematic that will indicate whenever the torque converter is locked light on or unlocked light off whether by the ECM or the TC Lockup switch. Torque converter lockup switch e4od. Hi I have been reading about the E4OD torque converter lock up mod and was wondering if anyone here has done it. You have full lock up and unlock control via a two position switch. HAVING BETWEEN 05 AND 3 VOLTS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE SWITCH MEANS THE TORQUE CONVETER IS LOCKED AND YOU WILL GET A SURPRISE THE FIRST TIME YOU PUT THE TRUCK INTO GEAR.

The lock-up eliminates Torque Converter slipping while on the highway. Ive heard that it can improve transmission life and other things but I wanted to talk to someone who has actually done this. The switch is closed when the brakes are applied and open when they are released.

Your cooler was probably just a coil in the radiator tank which doesnt reject a ton of heat. IF you go the disable lock up route I would add a nice big cooler to your transmission. The PCM uses this signal to disengage torque converter clutch when brake.

The torque converter lock up solenoid is controlled by your brake lights. Just an FYI for you Ford owners. It will take about 13 qts of new fluid to replace all fluid in it.

OK Im getting really sick of my torque converter locking up the second my truck shifts to second then loose power for a few seconds. After following PaulWs instructions on wiring up the torque converter lock up and going for a test drive I saw that the ECM was locking up the torque converter in. Shifts fine and for the most part shifts are on time although there is an occasional erratic downshift when lightly applying throttle and then it upshifts again immediately. If you dont have a drain plug on the converter you will have to change the fluid twice or drill a hole in the converter then plug the hole.

By doing that it ends up destroying your transmission.
